Extract from the criminal record
If the applicant who has obtained a certificate confirming status of a Slovak national living abroad is submitting the application within 60 days from issuing this certificate, there is no need to enclose the clear criminal record.
Residence in Slovakia during the decision making period
If a third-country national has obtained the above mentioned certificate confirming his status and has submitted an application for temporary residence, he is allowed to live in Slovakia until a decision is issued.
Temporary residence period
The Alien Police Department will issue for a Slovak national living abroad a temporary residence permit for five years (instead of three year period).
Business
The law allows for third-country nationals with temporary residence permit to carry out business.
Financial security of residence
As amended by the Act on staying of foreigners, a Slovak national living abroad is not obliged to substantiate his financial status.
Accommodation
As amended by the Act on staying of foreigners, a Slovak national living abroad is not obliged to substantiate accommodation.
Decision-making period
The Alien Police Department will issue a decision on a temporary residence permit within 90 days, but in the case of a Slovak national living abroard the decision must be issued within 30 days from submitting a complete application.
Medical test
As amended by the Act on staying of foreigners, a Slovak national living abroad is not obliged to submit a medical test within 30 days from the permit.
Renewal of temporary residence
The Alien Police Department can renew a temporary residence for Slovak nationals residing abroad by up to five years.
